Closing Keynote Session
Join us for a fireside chat with DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and Angela Rye, Principal and CEO of IMPACT Strategies, on the topic of fostering an inclusive cannabis industry in Washington, DC. In 2014, DC voters overwhelmingly passed Initiative 71, which legalized adult possession and home use of marijuana. However, Congress stepped in and imposed a rider on DC’s appropriations bill, prohibiting the District from using its local funds to fully enact Initiative 71 in a safe and regulated manner. In spring of 2019, Mayor Bowser proposed legislation to make marijuana use safer and more predictable, advance criminal justice reform, and promote legal employment for DC residents within the cannabis industry. Come out to learn more about Mayor Bowser’s proposed legislation allowing for the sale of recreational cannabis and how to join the conversation.
